The District Development Commissioner of Kulgam in Jammu and kashmir was informed on Thursday that 18,000 water recharge pits were commissioned within the space and 850 water gather tanks were made to fill the groundwater.

District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat was apprised regarding the construction of tanks in an exceedingly meeting chaired by him to review the performance of Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).

In the meeting, the DDC was briefed intimately regarding the activities carried out since the beginning of the IWMP within the district. it was additionally given out that underwater conservation of natural resources varied springs, gabion structures check dams, Percolation tanks were covered underneath the Programme.

Highlighting the importance of conservation of water bodies and gather of rain, the DDC aforesaid, “The role of IWMP is of important importance and impressed upon the involved officers to redouble their efforts in achieving fascinating results to keep up groundwater resources.”He additionally urged upon all stakeholders to play their proactive role to save water and build its considered use.
