The Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan metro Line five project might hit a roadblock as over one hundred families have opposed the proposal to construct a car shed on their land at Govegaon close to Kalyan-Bhiwandi road in maharashtra.
The villagers said do not need to lose their land to form method for a car shed because it is their solely supply of livelihood.
“The Mumbai metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) desires to acquire around thirty six hectares of our land in Govegaon for a Metro automobile shed. The move can affect as several as one hundred families,” secretary of Kon-Gove Sangharh Samiti, Pandharinath Bhoir, said in an exceedingly press conference on weekday.
Neeta Mahajan, a lawyer, who represents the committee, said, “Villagers have their homes, shops and small-scale workshops on this land.”
The MMRDA had last year sent notices to the residents stating that it needed to acquire the land for the car shed.
